Triple Zero Victoria Act

Section 63 of the Triple Zero Victoria Act 2023(opens in a new window) sets out obligations for the treatment of confidential information that is acquired by Triple Zero Victoria in the performance of its functions. ‘Confidential information’ means any information related to call taking and dispatch services or operational communications services provided by Triple Zero Victoria. The law restricts how Triple Zero Victoria, its employees, and others can access and use confidential information.

Triple Zero Victoria may disclose confidential call audio to a party of the call with the express consent of any other relevant person(s) or organisation(s) identified in the call. If the relevant person/organisation does not consent to the call being disclosed, then Triple Zero Victoria is unable to disclose the call audio in accordance with privacy obligations under Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (VIC). In some cases, it may be possible to disclose call audio with personally identifiable information redacted.
